I sat upright, gasping for air. I looked around my surroundings to see some large control room with the main console in the middle of the room.

“What?”

I looked towards the voice to see an older man with a leather jacket standing by the console, watching me, confusion plastered all over his face.

“Who are you?” I questioned him, scurrying to my feet. I then stumbled and put a hand to my head in sudden dizziness. The man reached over and grabbed my arms to steady me.

“Where am I?” I asked him.

“It’s okay, you’re safe.” He assured me, leading me to a seat. “What’s your name?”

“Alice.” I told him.

“Lovely name.” He told me. “Now, what’s the last thing you remember?”

“I…” I closed my eyes, trying to focus on my most recent memory. “I remember rain, and being cold. What happened to me? Where am I?” I asked the man, looking back up at him.

“I don’t know but I’m going to help you. My names the Doctor and you’re on my ship. It’s called the Tardis.”

“What? Ship? Like a spaceship?” I slowly stood from my seat to examine his so called spaceship.

“Yeah.” He smiled at me.

“So you’re an alien?”

“Yeah.”

I laughed at the idea of all of this.

“What, don’t you believe me?” He asked.

“No.” I laughed.

“I can prove it.”

“How?”

“My ship can travel anywhere through space and time. I can take you somewhere to prove it.”

“Wait. So, you’re a time traveller?”

“That’s right.” He smiled again.

And again, I laughed at the idea. “Okay then, prove it.”

“Where do you want to go?”

“The 1980s.” I replied randomly.

Smiling, the man called the Doctor fiddled with some things on his console before turning to me. “There we are. Outside those doors is the 20th century.” He gestured towards the doors.

“Well, let’s go then.” I started to head towards the doors with a rush of excitement before stopping in my tracks and turning to look at him. “Wait a second. Why am I here? What happened to me?”

His happy smile faded and he looked at me seriously. “I don’t know yet Alice. But I will figure it out.”

“How?” I asked as fear began to overtake my excitement.

“I don’t know. Do you remember anything at all? What year you were born in? Anything at all.”

I thought about it for a moment. “The 21st century. That’s all I can remember. Nothing else.”

“Well, I can’t find any trace from you. The only thing we can do is move on until something about your life comes back to you.”

I sighed slightly.

“You must be hungry.” He eventually replied.

I smiled a little. “Yeah, I guess I am.” I looked back at him. “Can we go get ice cream?”

He grinned at me. “That sounds fantastic.”

---

“So tell me more about yourself Doctor.” I asked him as we sat on a small table in the sun, eating our ice creams.

“There’s not much to say.” He replied simply.

“Oh come on. You’re an alien with a ship that’s inside a small blue box, which by the way I still can’t get over.” He grinned at that. “You can travel through time and space in it. There must be something you can tell me?”

“Nah. Not me. I’m just boring, nothing interesting.”

“Oh come on. What’s your planet like?”

He tried not to show it too much, but I could see a hint of pain in his eyes at the mention of his planet.

Quick to change the subject, I asked a different question. “Is your name actually the Doctor? Or is that a nickname or something?”

“Nope, that’s just my name.”

“It’s interesting. Just, the Doctor? Nothing else?”

“Just the Doctor.” He smiled.

“And why does your ship look like a blue police box?”

“I camouflaged it that way. I think it looks cool.”

“Excuse me?”

I turned towards the female voice that spoke from beside me.

“I was just admiring your ring,” the lady went on. “It’s very beautiful. How long have you two been together?”

“Oh, we’re not together.” The Doctor told her.

I, however, had lost track of the conversation. I was staring at the elegant silver ring on my ring finger. My eyes went wide as the memories came flooding back to me.

“Sorry about that.” The man had said as he lent down to pick my books up for me.

“Oh no, that was my fault, I wasn’t watching where I was going.” I replied as I helped collected the mess of books from the floor.

The man looked up at me and a sudden smile came over his face. He held out his hand to me. “Hi, I’m Ethan.”

I smiled and shook his hand. “Alice.” I replied.

I was lying in bed. The sun was up and shining in the room, it was probably 10 in the morning. I sniffed the air. I could smell coffee, and. I sniffed again. Pancakes. I grinned to myself, and extreme sense of happiness overwhelming me. I climbed out of bed and looked at myself in the mirror. I had bed hair and my pyjamas were slightly ruffled from such a comfortable sleep, but I couldn’t stop grinning. I walked out into the kitchen to see Ethan at the stove, cooking pancakes. He smiled at me.

“Morning. I thought I’d commemorate your first day living here with coffee and pancakes.”

We were sitting at a fountain, eating fruit salads on a sunny day. I watched as he got down on one knee, and opened a small box, asking me to marry him.

I came too, gasping for air. My hands gripping onto the table tightly as though it was the very thing holding me in place.

“Alice!?” I heard the Doctor frantically calling to me, trying to see if I was okay.

I looked up at him, my breathing beginning to slow.

“I’m engaged.”
Who is Alice and how did she get on the Tardis?

I thought I would give a Doctor Who fanfic a try, so here's chapter one. Possibly a total of 4 chapters, depending on how it goes. Chapter two coming soon
